July 25th, 2014 The weather hasn’t been cooperating, to say the least, with sunny patches mixed with rainy over this past weekend (a ½ inch of the wet stuff in total last night). Still, I’ve managed to get some staining done on the siding, and the Swedish ‘Falun Red’ looks really nice. Keith and I chat via 2-way radio, a great way to stay connected. Sara, who has been with us for over a year now, wanders between Keith and I, driven by the temperature outside. But, I’m never truly alone as, thousands, of dragonflies are out and about. When we both end up huddled down in the house due to inclement weather we spend our time listening to the ‘wind &/or rain’ music composed by the various environmental element sweeping over our acreage. I’ve also taken the time to downsize our clothes and various other household items...”our tiny home looks spacious”, Keith comments (and how could it not, with the whole back seat of the truck full of items destined for the value village). We drove in to Saskatoon to consult with our Oncologist on Monday, then by phone yesterday, and he also wants to see us this coming Wednesday. Not good news I’m afraid…the pancreatic cancer has grown. They were thinking about 2 more rounds of chemo treatment, with a LESS efficient medication, but it sounds like they want to classify the cancer (and Keith’s status) as ‘palliative’, and just put him on a maintenance regime of pain/nausea management. Keith and I don’t feel he can afford to lose anymore body weight, or muscle mass for that matter, as he’s finding it hard to transfer around the house as it is already. We’ll update you at the end of next week once a decision has been made. It makes no difference to us, we will continue on one day at a time eating and living healthy. Thanks to Joan for dog sitting Miss Sara while we were in Saskatoon for 12 HOURS on Monday (exhausting for everyone). Also, our friend, Anne, shipped us out a box of ‘anti-cancer’ supplements and information pamphlets. It pays off to know friends who are up-to-date on these sorts of things. Thank you everyone for all your continued ‘well wishes’, we’ve really been blessed with such wonderful friends and family. Live small, live simple, live free Amberleah & Keith.
