July 5, 1983 started out as all other days in my life as a Master Jeweler. I had opened my Jewelry Store on time but with one eye open and the other eye closed due to the 4th of July celebration the day before. B. L., my little sister that worked with me came dragging in about 30 minutes later! No excuse, she hollered as she came through the door. By noon she had finely put out all the gold and diamond jewelry that I kept in the show cases. When the last diamond ring hit its place of honor, B.L. Informed me she was going to lunch. I had a weakness for my little sister and told her that was fine as I did not deserve to eat anyway. With a laugh she left! I was on the phone at 11:30 when the two gentleman walked into the store. I was turning to them to let them know I would be right with them when the 1st fist slammed into my face. As the phone fell from my hands the next two fist slammed into my nose then right eye. I could not defend myself after the initial punches. I could hear them shouting to each other and could do nothing. The larger of the two gentlemen continued to throw punches into my face as the other was cleaning out my show cases and shouting kill him, kill him to his friend. Time stood still as I received punch after punch after punch. I could not move, could not think, could not protect myself. I knew that I was dead. As the gentleman threw his fist into me he kept shouting clean them out, clean them out and the return shout was kill him, kill him! By the grace of God they were finally leaving. The last thing I saw was a gun in my face with the words of your dead M.F. The good part of this is Im still making Jewelry 31 years later. I suffered only a severe beating, and the loss of my inventory. The Gold and Diamonds Ive replaced, my scars have healed years ago! I AM ONE LUCKY MAN. God bless you as he has blessed me.
