June 8, 2013 TEMPTING THOUGHTS Temptations are not limited to only the actions we take. We are tempted in our thoughts and feelings as well. How we think and feel is our decision. The devil wants us to have destructive thoughts and ill feelings toward others and ourselves. He wants us to be upset and aggravated about everything we do and what others do as well. However, when we give into temptation and have rotten attitudes, bad thoughts and ill feelings, it is just as wrong as giving into temptation to do wrong and hurtful actions. Philippians 4:4 “Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!” (NLT) Dear Lord, help us to resist temptation when it comes to our attitudes, feelings and thoughts. Help us to seek You in all we do so our thoughts and attitudes are pleasing to You. We can seek joy in all we do knowing when we live as You ask us to live, Your will can be done. Help us to think on things that are pure and lovely and true just as You command us to do so we are better able to resist temptation and keep the joy You want us to have in our hearts and in our minds.
