Just 10 More Minutes By Pastor Ron Sunday in Church our message took a look at The Great Commission from Matthew 28:18-20. But instead of looking at the obvious, making disciples in the world we took a closer look at verse 18. 18 Then Jesus came up and said to them, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Jesus then gives that same authority to us to go make disciples. Using an example from a book by Craig Hill titled If God is in Control, Why do Bad Things Happen?,that authority He gave to the Apostles and to us is like Power of Attorney. We represent Him here on earth. The book of Acts then records how the Apostles used that Power of Attorney. And like Christ does in The Great Commission, they command things to happen. They dont ask. They command the lame man to get up and he was healed, they commanded the evil spirit to depart from the shouting and shrieking women. Since they have Power of Attorney the dont ask these things, they demand it, they are evoking their Power of Attorney. We need to do the same. When we pray, and our prayers are representative of what Christ would do we do not need to ask, we can command that change. Evoke our own Power of Attorney. Be bold in demand and doing the change. But only in doing what He would do. Dont confuse our desires with His. When we pray the words In the name of Christ that is exactly what is being done. We are praying as Christ and we are executing our Power of Attorney given us by Christ Himself. We are placed here as the Ambassadors of this world on Behalf of our Lord. We are His representatives and are here to administer His policies while on earth. He ascended into Heaven but left us here to do the work He started, to do His work which is now our work through the power He granted to us in The Great Commission. So go...feed the hungry, care for the sick, tend to the poor. Go and exercise your Power of Attorney. Go In the name of Jesus Christ and make disciples of the world!
