Just a cool biography of Constantine I had to write. Pretty good mound of information to spark your curiosity In a small town known as Naissus, Moesia (Present-day Serbia), a boy was born in the year 280. That boys name was Flavius Valerius Aurelius Constantius Augustus, or as history calls him, Constantine the Great. Young Constantine was born in a humble family, as his father was an officer in the Roman Army, and his mother being a stay at home wife coming from the countryside. Nine years after his birth, his father left to be with the stepdaughter of Maximian, the Emperor of Western Rome. Constantine was sent to Diocletian, the Eastern Roman emperor. There he learned Greek and Latin languages. After seeing the execution of Christians with a front-row seat, his interest in Christianity was sparked. After the leave of Maximian, his father was promoted to the Emperor I of Western Rome. After serving tours in Britain with his father, the troops of Eastern Rome voted Constantine in as the New Emperor of Eastern Rome for his leadership skills and bravery in battle. Several years later, his power was challenged by Maxentius. Maxentius wanted to fight at Milvian Bridge, in Eastern Rome. Before the battle of Milvian Bridge, Constantine saw the Holy Cross in the rising sun. He took it as a sign of Gods protection on him and his troops, so he declared that the Holy Cross be painted on every soldiers shield. Constantine was never a religious man before this battle, but his beliefs were surely shifted. His army slaughtered Maxentiuss army, defeating them with minor casualties, and still proclaiming Constantine their emperor. And beyond that day, the veil of Christianity was lifted, and the power of the Holy Spirit shone though all of Rome.
