Just a few helpful tips on how to care for fresh cut flowers. Roses in particular are a bit finicky about how they are treated. Be sure to use only a sharp knife and cut the stems at an angle (under water if possible). Using clippers or scissors on rose stems will crush the delicate capillaries, inhibiting the uptake of water. A sharp knife is best! Choose a location in your home that is free from drafts, direct sunlight and sources of heat (televisions, refrigerators, etc...) to display your flowers. Add water daily and change the water if it begins to look cloudy or discolored. Floral food will help prolong the life of your flowers and keep bacteria levels down.
