Just a little heads up to all you amazing peeps out - TopicsExpress

Just a little heads up to all you amazing peeps out there...something to think about and pass on. I might get on my soap box for a minute...so, look out!! Its a first!! :) ha ha ha!! I want to take a minute to recognize the many wonderfully talented cake artists out there who put their love, time, energy and money into developing fantastic tutorials for you and I! I am SO grateful for so many brilliant minds in this industry...its making it a great great industry full of some ridiculously talented people!! I LOVE it!! Now, some of these tutorials need to be purchased so that those artists can re-coop their time/money and get paid for that brilliance!! :) And we should expect to have to invest into learning and growing in this profession...especially for a GOOD education. I love to support artists and purchase tutorials Im interested in learning more about because we can all learn something new and support the ingenuity of those people. I have been BLESSED to learn and have been SO blessed to teach things to you too...so, Ive been on both sides. The problem comes when people choose to take what theyve learned from PAID tutorials and broadcast them for FREE on their websites, blogs, Instagrams and Facebook pages. I know you might be excited at a new concept youve learned and you want to photograph creating something youve learned, but at that point, youve crossed the line and are basically stealing money from those starving artists by showing their work and what youve learned from their classes that YOUve paid for. It baffles me people do this...and saddens me terribly. Perhaps the excitement of learning causes people to temporarily forget what they are doing!? Now, I do understand that the longer a technique is out there, the more muddy it becomes on who originally developed it...so, Im not talking about that. Im talking about knowingly taking information that youve learned and passing it off as your own, or simply reproducing something for free, that should be paid for. Yes, this world of cake artistry is becoming more and more competitive and there is this feeling of HURRY! learn what you can and try and make money teaching it somehow...but be careful. Tread with graciousness and respect. Think first how you would feel if someone did that to you. And remember...the cake world is small. There are MANY eyes and ears all around and somehow it always gets back to the designer...and the truth will be revealed. Be a blessing...give credit where credit is due and enjoy the feeling that comes from being honest. Thats it! :) Just a friendly good morning Wednesday message! :) These are just a few of my friends...and I love them and am protective of them...thats all!! :) AND, if you havent been to their pages, they ROCK, so go check them out!!! McGreevy Cakes, Artisan Cake Company, Karas Couture Cakes, Avalon Cakes, Cuteology Cakes, Peggy Does Cake, Royal Bakery, and MORE.
