Just a public service announcement: If you are somewhere where - TopicsExpress

Just a public service announcement: If you are somewhere where there is live music and you want to hear a song, feel free to go up and ask politely between songs. There is nothing wrong with wanting to hear that band play a song that you Love. I can say from personal experience it is a great feeling to be able to play a song for someone that wanted to hear it. That said, if the people in the band say they dont know it, there is no amount of bargaining or getting angry at them that is going to change that. The idea that someone would get mad at a band for not playing a song they want to hear is completely ludicrous. Dont argue, pout, or blame them for not knowing it. In other words, dont act like an entitled, whiny, spoiled-rotten brat. Musicians, like any other artists, are not jukeboxes. You wouldnt walk up to a painter in the middle of their work and scream DO THAT ANDY WARHOL ONE!!! YOU KNOW, THE ONE WITH THE SOUP CAN!!! YEAH DO THAT ONE! Doing that would get you kicked out of wherever you were. Musicians are artists. We have integrity. And like any other artists, we have our own statement for you to absorb. And whether or not you like it, show it some respect. Listen to it without preconceptions. Dont come to us solely to satisfy your fleeting desire to hear some song youve heard a million times. Instead, listen to our music with your ears for the first time. You may just enjoy it infinitely more than you would have enjoyed hearing Wagon Wheel or Freebird for the 400th time. There is infinite joy to be gained from approaching art with an open mind. That is all.
