Just a question (okay, post question it turned into a rant)... Has anyone had a successful conversation in the past month, either in person or on facebook, with someone else who has the opposing view, and come to your own agreement on things? Is that a thing? Because currently it seems like people are fine with just entrenching themselves and demanding the other come over to their trench. It just leaves the 60+% of people who dont have a trench, nor want one, to have a position of weird humble self righteousness. AKA I dont know who is right in this, but yall are acting super immature, and reckless. Implying I am more mature than you. Heres what Im afraid of: generations of people are slowly being enslaved to central banks, in the form of government and private debt. And we as individuals are powerless to stop it. And too distracted by our own petty, not-so-petty squabbles to do something about it. Speaking of which, I would love to just sit down with some of the more powerful people in the world (aka political and financial leaders/owners) and try to understand them as human beings. And then Id love to ignore everything that is going on and join in on the growing local sustainable agricultural, cultural movement. Because at the end of the day, or at the end of my life... I want my children and my grand children to live close to me, so I can have a mentoring and then friendship relationship with them, passing on what Ive learned and constantly learning from them. And I want to find a level of Quality of Life that suffices, and then use all of whatever excess I manage to produce to help reduce the suffering of those around the world. And holy crap I dont understand money-driven people. Its mind boggling, de-spiriting, and depressing. And it, along with a few other vices, are helping to dis-integrate our communities, so that the undesirables fall through the cracks and we can turn a blind eye without remorse. Or those who have remorse, have no current ability to deal with what they see. Let me in on that movement and those people. And let me know if you want in as well. I dont think this is just idealogical BS. I think this is simplifying life and sanctifying community and the other. Life is too short to not care deeply. Care deeply. Please. My grandmother is dying. And I wonder... when youre 82 and dying, do any of those things matter? What DOES matter?
