Just a quick update. You may remember my posting about a mare we had who was displaying some odd behaviour on mounting. Having done the saddle, teeth, physio route etc. maybe thought she was cold backed. Anyway, we just kept working away with her quietly, gaining her trust and not asking a lot of her. Today was a bit of a milestone. My back has been bad and I made a total totz of getting on today. resulting in the saddle slipping and my foot scraping over her backside, then me scrambling about up top to straighten the saddle and sort myself out while making a fuss of her for standing motionless.( I say scrambling, its all relative,more movement in the saddle than I would have EVER subjected her to before) Friend I was riding out with started to laugh, said had I done that last year she would have put us both in orbit. Turns out it was just a trust issue, she never even cocked an ear back in confusion. what a star. small achievement, big silly grin.
