Just a reminder that our junior registration day will be held next Sunday 2 February at 10.30am at the Pakenham Upper Football Ground. Also, over the weekend we have been advised by the AFL Gippsland Commission of their intention to reject the change of age groups in the EDFL for season 2014. The Commission was established to act as the independent body to govern the AFL Vic Country rules and regulations alongside AFL Victoria. The Commission were advised by the EDFL of their intention to change the age levels for fourths and fifths to U14’s and U16’s in season 2014. Upon consideration and consultation with both the EDFL and WDJFL, the Commission rejected the proposal on the basis that a working party needed to be established by the Commission to review and consider the junior structures of the EDFL and WDJFL and to make recommendations on the structures for upcoming seasons. More details on the decision will be provided at registration day but at this stage what this means for us and our juniors in season 2014 is – age groups will remain the same as in 2013 ie. U13’s and U15.5’s.
