Just a thought: Admittedly, Im addicted to the ID (TV channel) with its endless stories of true crime and punishment. I used to watch The First 48 on A&E but grew tired of the constant barrage of cases involving African Americans. Ive developed an interest in these modern who dunnits but what disturbs me is the fact that apparently so many murders occur in this nation that various shows with seasons worth of material are able to exist. The United States is a truly violent nation. Murder cases are not shocking, they are television drama. Remember, the shows that Im referring to chronicle real, documented cases! As a homicide survivor (one who has lost a loved one to murder) this disturbs me. Maybe the reason I watch these shows is that I enjoy watching the killer get caught and convicted. A luxury I never enjoyed in my fathers, still unsolved, 18 year-old murder case.
