Just after watching Alejandro Jodorowskys bible-via-LSD Western film, El Topo. In that, there is a tribe living inside a mountain, all grotesque from generations of inbreeding. A man from outside becomes a messiah for the tribe, promising to go to the town at the foot of the mountain to get supplies and dig a tunnel so they can escape. Having reached the town, he finds it full of selfish, hedonistic degenerates with a taste for violent spectacle. Eventually, he completes the tunnel and the tribe spill out through the hole, naively rushing for the town. The messiah tries to stop them, screaming, No! Youre not ready! As they approach the town, they are all mercilessly gunned down by the waiting residents. Looks like a decent allegory for the internet, to me :/
