Just an update on tomorrows memorial for Chris Yeager at GrandPres--I want everyone to know that this gathering is a time for us to express ourselves as we need among friends and in our community. Besides providing a welcoming place and atmosphere where we can openly grieve and remember our dear friend Chris, we are open to any ideas of brainstorming and organizing as to where we go from here concerning the issues surrounding the violent and senseless crimes which have touched us so personally. I believe we have again reached a tipping point where we, as a city, must take a stand and say enough is ENOUGH ! I know different friends and acquaintances in our community are already doing some legwork concerning various other avenues of action. I will have pen and paper ready for anyone who would like to discuss any ideas. I have heard talk of the possibility of a potential march, making our presence known during the upcoming court proceedings, printing/displaying t-shirts with Chris image on it, etc. Any and all peaceful and rational ideas are open for discussion. I believe that our only attempt to affect any real change concerning the issue of violent crime in our city lies within our UNITY. I echo Ken Grand Pres sentiments when I say the outpouring of love toward our brother Chris has been overwhelming. Its up to us now to pick up the torch and let our city know that Chris death is not just another sad statistic to be swept under the rug and all to soon forgotten.
