Just because fat is good for you doesnt mean you should base your diet ENTIRELY on butter and bacon. Someones gotta say it.. It worries me that weve stepped straight out of the dogmatic low fat era that had DEVASTATING effects on our health and straight into the low carb dogmatic era. Because severely restricting one of the macronutrients upon which human life is sustained worked so well the first time around... Im not saying eat cereal and toast for breakfast. Im not even saying include grains in your diet at all.. Because for many people they are extremely detrimental.. Although including white rice and sourdough works well for me. But seeing people in forums talk about obsessively counting carbs. Eating 1/4 of an apple or a handful of berries and saying theyve reached their carb limit.. Freaking out about the carb content of a banana or even avocado.. It feels so very disordered and like total insanity. Weve scrapped the fat and cholesterol phobia and replaced it with carb phobia. Despite our bodies SCREAMING out for fuel- which is glucose! Instead of counting calories obsessively we are counting carbs!!! Whats the difference??? Despite the strong evidence that a very low carb/sugar diet chronically stresses the body, adrenals, thyroid and slumps metabolism. Yes you might feel great for 6-12 months during the honeymoon period but what about after that??! Its just like any other diet. Works for a while. Then the weight piles back on. Screw the dogma!!
