Just been to David Sedaris thanks to Jacky Carroll...a traumatic night due to Timperley Big shorts V Gorton Rangers. Although we were late I got to see a fabulous hour or so of the man, reading from his excellent books..and also some ace diary stuff that was new to me. I have tried to entice Louise Hussey into Sedaris world but to to no avail... I truly believe if you had seen him tonight you would change your opinion. Hes a beautiful writer. Tonight he winged it and told some filthy jokes... and I now love him even more. As an expectant youth (i was probably 10/11) I had spent some time with my Grandfather at the family home on a particularly rainy day...as i was bored and unfulfilled at the prospect of spending a day with this old sage, I sought solace by asking him question after question. Granddad?...Mom and Dad tell me all sorts about you but can you tell me something I dont know? Granddad stared at the rain spattered window wistfully, took a deep breath and answered “Did you know that grandma can take my entire fist up her ass.”... Thanks David you made my bloody night/week. x
