Just finished day 3 in birmingham. I wish i could sit down and spend the time to share my thoughts with my friends. Cause of time constraint and laziness my descriptions are just snapshots of writing. Apologies for the shortcut. Whoever has visited England gets the unmistakeable character of English weather. Clouds followed by drizzle and then the sun shines through ending the cycle with rain. All these can happen in a cycle of 15 minutes. So either you r prepared for it or u dont give a damn about getting soggy in a minutes notice. Temperature being moderate it is easy to forgive. Of course one looks at the street scene to get a sense of place. Mostly low rise building with small stores punctuated with lush green parks, the Signature Morris Minor taxi cabs and of course the double decker red buses and privte automobiles, almost all of them being small ti midsize unlike the street of New York. Refreshing. What are streets without people to watch. A remarkable group of people walked by gliding rather clad in their full length arabian dress, and some ladies with hijab and dresses whith jeans and peter pan short boots. Women were both dark and fair with black and flaming red hair. But very few caucasian . I looked at the series of store windows featuring full length beaded od plain dresses. Curious, I asked my host, who explained that there had been a steady influx of Somalians and the Pakistanis were already in Birmingham. Go figure, restaurents, somalian & Asin trainning centers etc. to cater to the overwhelming Foreign constituency. This is Birmingham, similar to Eastham .
