Just finished my brother-inlaw Lindsay Johannsens excellent book, McCullocks Gold, and almost enjoyed the personal detail at the end just as much ... virtually another short story in itself. I was a little surprised to discover he still rides his bike around (at his grand young age) at some of his old hunting grounds. So imagine my astonishment, to be told by my wife Paula, his sister, after telling her Id just completed his very enjoyable book, that shed heard on the Tar Baby grapevine, that his face and bike had a not so pleasant rendezvous with a barb wire fence, just recently. One was tempted to say Silly Old Coot, but Id never say that, let alone think it. He is one amazing older guy though, which probably explains it best. ;)
