Just finished re-reading The Ocean at the End of the Lane and it - TopicsExpress

Just finished re-reading The Ocean at the End of the Lane and it is, indeed, better than I remember it from my first reading. To be fair, the first time I read it, I was not paying as much attention as I usually give a Neil Gaiman work. Lerato and I got it from the library just before we left on a trip to Adelaide, and that trip was fraught with perils and drama (as so much of my life in Australia was). For that and other reasons, my first reading of it was not only distracted and not fully immersive, but also feels a bit tainted. So Im glad I re-read it. I highly suggest it, by the way. Nowhere near as dense, or as long, as American Gods (which is still my favorite novel of his), but it still feels so very much like a Gaiman work. Id say, if youve never read any of his books, this is the place to start. Well, this or Sandman, but not everyone is going to invest in a 7500 page graphic novel series. For the record, it is a story about children, but it is very much not a story FOR children.
