Just finished reading When Hell Was In Session. The story of Jeremiah Denton who was a Vietnam POW for almost 8 years. He passed away last week at the age of 89. It is hard to fathom the torture that our POWs endured during captivity. They will tell you that it was God who gave them the strength. It is an amazing story of the Hanoi Hilton. Stories of our Vietnam soldiers and veterans always catch my eye and my heart. There is still one mission I would like to accomplish one day. One of Rays buddies lives in Phoenix, AZ. He insisted and was the one who actually helped put Ray in the medevac chopper. I have a great desire to sit and talk with him. Some of his comrades find it too hard to talk about, but Jay C Groenbeck seems to be able to handle the task. I still want to know so much more of his last year. I finally found his buddy, Al, a few years ago and talked to him on the phone. He explained what happened, but hasnt contacted me since and I will not push the issue. Another friend, Gil Rivera, advised me that when Al was ready, he would contact me. Still wish to visit with Gil more one of these days. I would like to visit Gil as well because he says there is a howitzer on display near him and I would really like to see the gun up close and personal. Guess Ill go for now. Its late. If POWs and the Vietnam War interest you, this is an excellent book. Mr Denton served as a senator after returning home. The epilogue is scarey to read~~~~the decline of this nation as a power, the vanishing of the family unit and its values, and the turning of this nation against God. We cant survive if we dont change our path. :(
