Just found a message on my home telephone from Patrick - TopicsExpress

Just found a message on my home telephone from Patrick Subrhimalkayn (I couldnt understand his last name due to his accent but you can bet it was not a real name) stating he was calling from the IRS threatening me with legal action if I didnt call him back immediately and not to disregard this message. It was a long message that got cut off in the middle, not because my recorder cut him off but because he hung up just after giving his phone number that started off with an area code that wasnt an 1-800#. As well as leaving a bogus name and phone number, he did not leave his IRS badge number which I understand any IRS agent will do. Hanging up in the middle of his threat just after giving his phone number is an old telemarketing trick to get you worried enough to call him back to find out what the problem is and thats when they badger you into giving them personal information that they will use to clean out you bank account and steal your identity. After checking the IRS website, there is a huge phone scam being run as of the last month and for the 1st time, they called the wrong guy........................... The 1st thing that tells you this is a scam is that I owe the IRS nothing and have never been audited nor made even a late payment, let alone filed late. The IRS will always notify you by mail and if they do call they will give you 2 things: 1. Their name and badge number 2. A call back number that starts with 1-800 They will never leave you an initial vmail like this guy did threatening you with legal action, especially in an initial contact. Please friends, do not respond to these calls and give them ANY information!! If you get one of these calls or anything like email, fax or text (SMS) message, do not: 1. Open any attachments. 2. Call them back and give them any personal information including your SSN, bank account # or PIN Do: 1. Call the IRS at the 1-800 number on their list and ask if there is any reason they would be contacting you. 2. When you find that this is a phishing scam, go to the IRS website and REPORT IT!!! I will call him back in the morning with a recorder to document the call and follow up with the complaint that I will lodge with the IRS per their instructions. Oh, I am going to have so much fun tomorrow when I call this guy back and act all scared that I am in trouble with the IRS and ask what can I do to get it fixed!!!
