Just got an email from the Great Prairie AEA announcing, History Day 2014 is scheduled for March 14, 2014 in Fairfield, Iowa. This is the district level competition of a national contest and I have been asked to be a judge of student entries again this year. Hundreds of young students get the chance to enter historic research projects and to present their work in one of five ways: as a paper, an exhibit, a performance, a documentary, or a web site. The top two entries in each division move onto the state level of the competition. I am always impressed by the enthusiasm, research abilities and presentation skills of these young people. This is a wonderful tribute to the skills of the students involved and the teachers and parents who mentor them. It is an honor to be asked to do this again and I will gladly accept.
