Just got back from UYDL in Sunny but very Windy Blackpool. Ben McGuire had another superb day with 2 PBs. In the LJ he jumped a winning 6.23m, off a made up run. One of his other 2 jumps was 6.22m. Stopping so he could concentrate on his HJ. We werent disappointed. He cleared 1.91m with ease for a new PB He was so so close to 1.94m but with a combination of trying a little too hard and the wind getting stronger he just failed. But he wasnt finished, he anchored an excellent 4x100 U17m team. Winning by 50m. Team member Amy Gullen also won her HJ competition. But unfortunately by the time she got to 1.60m the wind was blowing the mat cover all over the place. So she had to settle for 1.55m. A pity as she is now moving and jumping really well. Amy also anchored the relay team. This time for the U17w 4x100 team, with the same result, this time with 30m spare. Elsewhere Robert Ferguson jumping for Edinburgh in Manchester won his HJ competition. With an easy 2.01m. Stopping as his foot was a little sore New squad member Chris MacKay equalled his PB1.85m, attempting 1.88m. So we can say another excellent weekend for the group.
