Just got back from an evening bicycle ride around our beautiful countryside. I thought I was doing really well, pushing on, head down, high gear, breathing hard, then boom! Two young guys on fantastic looking bikes shot past me like I was walking. At first I must admit I thought bastards! Then , when the jealousy subsided, I thought good on em!. There’s two young lads doing something well. They obviously can afford nice cycles but they’re not (just) posing, they are using those quality cycles to get fit, enjoy themselves and to get something out of their leisure time. The same applies to airsoft. There is a new breed of airsofter making their mark in the community. There used to be an old cliché “all the gear and no idea” banded about by many airsofters but, whilst this is true for some players, there is a growing section who have the gear and can play, very ,very well. These players not only put a lot of effort into their kit but they also put a lot of effort into their gameplay. They train to improve their technique and teamwork and take their fitness, skill and sportsmanship seriously. We at NAA are very lucky to have many players who frequent our site who share that attitude. We have always said that we don’t care what you wear, as long as you play with the right attitude. Not everyone can afford expensive kit but we should not knock anyone who can, as long as they play with the right attitude. I am very impressed by the skill and sportsmanship shown by some of the younger players, especially the teams. I feel that the way forward is for regular players to team up, train together and build a reputation as skillfull, sporting players. There are two teams who visit us quite regularly who fit that description and I know a lot of non team players enjoy playing with/ against them. Yesterdays games gave everyone a chance to show their skill and every player made the effort to contribute to the day. There was great sportsmanship shown and the day was very easy to marshal (apart from the heat). Very many thanks to everyone for visiting us and we hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did.
