Just got home from the hospital, and heres the update on my buddies involved in a serious crash while cycling earlier today. Patrick broke his left leg below the knee in three places, and the bone came through the skin. He had surgery, and the dr. said it went well. It was a very serious break, and his expected recovery time is around 3 months. Cary was also injured and had to go to the hospital. After tests, xrays and scans, Cary was able to go home, albeit quite bruised and banged up, possibly with broken ribs. I was not injured at all. After my friends left in ambulances, all I had to do was to get my bike and their two bikes back to our cars, some 10 miles away. With the help of a good Samaritan, Jim Colelli (who helped tremendously at the crash scene), he helped me walk the bikes over 1/2 mile away to the nearest intersection and had his wife drive their truck over so we could haul the bikes back to the cars. Many thanks to them for their kindness and willingness to help. Such a senseless crash that didnt need to happen.
