Just got my renewal notice from BCBS for 2014. My monthly premium will go from $190 to $255. That is about $50 more monthly to cover the new taxes put on insurance companies passed directly to the consumer by the insurance companies. Why is it that the insursnce companies not suffer from the increased taxation? This is big business & lobbiest winning again. If I were not grandfathered in BCBSs select plan with a $5,000 deductible & $30/$60 copay, my monthly premium would have been $425 a month. Now that I am grandfathered in, I cannot make any changes to my plan to try to reduce costs or I lose the grandfathered status.
