Just got the best review of my drawing by the woman in the picture. Here it is... The directions didnt specify that we couldnt analyze a portrait where we are the subject, just to pick another classmates portrait and analyze it so I picked this one of myself by Nicollette. I love the vibrancy of the colors and how you took my picture and made it very realistic to the picture, but added a vibrancy to the colors that add more of a meaning in the content for me as the subject and viewer. This vibrancy makes me feel the artist is willing to take risks, while trying to maintain the traditional aspect of things. The use of shapes in the facial features show me the artist stuck to the traditional and realistic look. The eyes and hair is what got me with this portrait. The artist was able to capture my emotions when I took this photograph and portray them through my eyes. While I was all dolled up in make up, on the inside I was sad and in pain, and the artist was able to capture that pain and sadness in the eyes, which I think adds to the needed vibrancy of colors to help show my outward appearance of looking like everything is just fine. This shows me the artist is intuitive. The lines and color use in the hair is perfect and exact to my hair, which shows me the artist pays attention to little details and is willing to make things just right. To be honest it is hard to demonstrate the femininity of a woman with short hair in a drawing and I was very intrigued to see how the artist would portray the femininity. I think she did this with the use if the lines in the hair, the use of colors, and and the use of more feminine shapes for facial features. This shows me the artist is either skilled, determined, or both. Very good and I have shown everyone I know and they cant believe how the artist, Nicollette, was able to capture me both realistically and deep inside, emotionally.
