Just had a Space Guru moment in my own home...As a vocalist, over - TopicsExpress

Just had a Space Guru moment in my own home...As a vocalist, over the years, I have saved a small collection of recordings that were taken during voice lessons years ago. I would revisit these recordings (on cassette tapes, mind you), as they had valuable exercises as well as accompaniment to songs that I still enjoy singing. It was also nice to hear where I have been vocally over the years. But, as years passed I would rarely listen to them or if I did, they would just remind me of a time when musical theater was my primary focus and I would feel a sense of grief, even though I feel mostly aligned with my current life path, and my career as a musician continues in another capacity. These tapes held my past. The truth is that in order to achieve full alignment in my current life path, musical theater must come forward again; not as a primary career, but just as a visitor. I held these tapes as a reminder of that, and yet holding the past has kept me from moving forward. I have tried to throw these tapes out before, knowing their symbolism, but was too attached. It always feels like you are throwing out a part of who you were and are. But, by releasing the past, we are clearer to invite in the present and the future. I am ready to fully invite in new musical theater opportunities and fully align with my life path. The tapes are in the garbage. Feels pretty great actually! What are you holding on to that is a representation of your past? Are you ready to step into the present?
