Just had the craziest lunch weve ever had. We took the train out to Ostia Lido to look around and stopped for something to eat. Wonderful Spigola (Sea Bass) and some grilled Radicchio with a carafe of vino bianco. Somehow, we meet the manager (see photo) who is beyond nuts. First, when he cant find the table that ordered pasta with clams, he decides to auction it off to the highest bidder. Later, when someone is talking on the phone too much, he takes his phone and tells the person on the other end to call back later, your friends are eating. Now, hes at our table talking about leaving Italy for SF. A few minutes later, he comes back with someone elses bottle of wine and gives it to us to drink. Later he comes back and wants to give us some Limoncello, so he comes back with it, throws the bottle of wine (that wasnt ours to begin with) onto the beach, has a drink with us and leaves again to cause trouble elsewhere. Later he announces that he has family waiting for him at home and everyone has to leave, and starts playing the whackiest Italian music you can imagine, including some song about how now youre really breaking my balls. Unbelievable afternoon. How was your lunch?
