Just learned some sad news. Carolyn Turner passed away. Carolyn was 85 & a lifelong resident of Washington Twnsp. She & husband Dean were married for 59 yrs. They were local farmers & fixtures at the Hendricks County & State fairs. Carolyn was an Avon High School graduate, as were her kids & grandkids. She was instrumental in beginning the first kindergarten in Avon. Many years ago, when I first ran for school board, I remember that she & Dean invited me to their home to get to know me & to ask me some serious questions about why I was running. What started out as a bit intimidating resulted in a great conversation, affirmation, mutual respect & a long-time acquaintance (not to mention the offer to put a sign in their yard & fields for years to come). Dean was a former school board member with definite opinions & we had many good talks over the years before his death. He was a character. Carolyn was formidable as well. Its kind of weird because I hadnt seen her in a while and had actually just asked a friend about her on Monday.... and now I was just sent her obituary. She died on Monday. She & Dean were good people. Prayers to the family.
