Just looking at video of the tree planting ceremony for Emmett Till in Washington DC....and was reminded of the year he was horribly massacred. 1955. My mom was 8 years old. I often reference timeframe in that manner because it helps attain perspective. Wasnt even a generation ago when this happened, yet there are folks whod rather you forget it....or never let it affect your existence. How can it not?? I actually remember shedding tears when I saw it in a book. An encyclopedia to be exact. My mom bought me a full set & one of the first things I looked up was a topic on the Civil Rights movement. His photo on the cover of Jet magazine literally floored me. I told my mom how horrible it looked & asked how could someone do that. She told me that she had the same reaction.
