Just picked up Dixie the 8 month old Tibetan Terrier who was - TopicsExpress

Just picked up Dixie the 8 month old Tibetan Terrier who was diagnosed with Luxating Patellas in both back legs by a different vet to the one she was taken to today. The owner said that she could not afford vet treatment and asked that the dog be put to sleep. We went in to speak to the vet Gemma at The Village Animal Hospital who had been dealing with this case. The woman had taken her in this morning even with the offer of a rescue space adamant that she wanted the dog killed and not rehomed. She had bought the puppy from a local breeder and the pup had become wedged under her bed a few weeks back. Since then she has been slightly limping. She contacted the breeder and demanded her money back as she did not want a broken dog. The breeder refused and also refused to take her dog back. She turned up with the dog this morning saying that she did not want the dog to go anywhere near to rescue and wanted to stay with her whilst she died. The vet point blankly refused and then the owner changed her mind because she couldnt be bothered to take her anywhere else. Dixies condition - very long and matted hair. Happy and chirpy little girl and no limping, no pain and walks perfectly. Every day I lose more and more faith in the human race. We thank the vet for refusing to euthanase this healthy dog and making it pretty impossible for the woman to leave with her!! The woman is now off out to buy another puppy.
