Yup, long title and an in-depth comparison of the two methods of integrated response to the Active Shooter event currently being implemented by US Public Safety. Problematically, as Americans, we have an extremely short memory of history. One of these methods, currently the rage among the trend-setters of both the police and fire industries, has failed in the past and will again fail because of inherent structural failures. While this would be mildly interesting if it was the latest social media or some odd activity that people will soon sour upon, the failure of Public Safety to efficiently respond to this incident means people will needlessly suffer and die. If you are responsible for contributing to your agencys Active Shooter response, the content of this article should be part of your consideration.
