Just received this reply this morning from Jill Boggs in reference to our vehicle possibly being on hold due to customs....Things arent only stressful just for us. And there are some IAL employees who Are Working hard to remedy the situation as best they are able...............................I assure you that there are no holds awaiting payment by IAL. Im not an expert in customs, so I really have no idea what the window is, but yes, there are fees associated with storage of containers at a shippers facility at the ports. Things are backlogged, plain and simple. IAL was told to expect to ship approximately 13-16,000 vehicles this summer and we staffed and resourced accordingly. We have shipped over 28,000 vehicles this summer, an order of magnitude for which we didnt have the resources or staffing to support. We have been in reactionary mode all summer because of the increased volumes - and that is not a position a logistics provider wants to be in. We have added staff, we have added additional subcontractors, etc., but catching up is time consuming. The volumes also caught the government unawares, as customs has had to add additional staffing at some of these ports as well. And all are working OT, including weekends to the extent we are permitted to by port and union regulations. IAL, USTRANSCOM, SDDC, etc. are all extremely aware of the stress this situation has put on our service members. Many of us are former military or have family who are or were in the military. I assure you we are doing everything in our power to get caught up and institutionalize our processes more effectively. And not one of us on the IAL management team has had a full day off since April 1st - and we wont until every vehicle we accepted for shipment this summer has been delivered. Jill Boggs
