Just returned from a two week adventure into the wilds of BC - TopicsExpress

Just returned from a two week adventure into the wilds of BC chasing summer-run steelhead. On those hot days the horse flies are a pain in the ass. I dont know how many we killed but when they were swept onto the ground a red ant would find the fly and drag it back to the nest. Quite a feat as the horse fly in many times larger than the ant. Another friend of the angler suffering from the pesky horse fly is the white-tailed or bald-faced hornet. When you are sitting down with the horse flies flying around you the hornets fly around and attack the horse flies. This one took one over to my rod where it de-wings the fly so it cant escape and decapitates it before taking it to its nest. Nature can be amazing. Another thing that happened was a squirrel migration? on many days usually one or two would swim from one side of the river to the other. I have been on this river for 30 years and have never witnessed anything like this before.
