Just saw The Hunger Games Catching Fire with Ivan Calixto. I promise no spoilers. Its been a long long time since Ive been able to say a sequel is much better than the original. Cinematography its adequate. Editing at the beginning is a bit off and Ivan and I agree on it. A very awkward montage in the beginning. Acting was strong at times and a bit over the top at times. The screenplay or writing I thought was very very strong. It had a good bit of tradition and a good bit of realism which kept it fresh and worth attention. The special effects were mediocre to me. I honestly really enjoyed this film as it made the story much deeper and added a bit of desperation. This film VERY VERY effectively pushed this franchise forward and definitely enriched its storyline and moved jennifer Lawrences character arc along without over doing it. MY FAVORITE THING: it held back. Right when I felt like it was gonna try to evoke to much emotion from the audience it holds back at the proper time. ACTING: 7 OUT OF 10 LAWRENCE AND SOUTHERLAND are awesome EDITING: 7 OUT OF 10 much worse in the beginning STORY: 9 OUT OF 10. It moved the characters forward made them all deeper and more interesting and the storyline actually has a great meaning other than survive and made the franchise interesting. Really well done. Overall: it was a very entertaining film that fans of the franchise should be happy with. Im excited to see the next film!!! Ivan and I agree. 8 OUT OF 10 OVERALL. I volunteer to end this review now as tribute.
