Just saw a news story about how police in Ferguson, MO, will now be equipped with cameras attached to their uniforms. This will help eliminate doubt about what happened in cases like the Brown shooting. Thats a wonderful idea, and I was pleased when they said that the Chief of Houston Police has requested funding for such cameras for Houstons police force. The thing Im NOT happy about is the cost! They want to spend $8,000,000 for 3500 cameras. Thats $2300 per camera! A GOPRO HERO3+ Black Edition Camera costs $399.99. Great cameras and cost about 1/6 of whatever kind HPD wants. It would cost $1,400,000 for 3500 GoPros, saving taxpayers well over $6,000,000! That kind of waste is whats wrong with governments EVERYWHERE. Grrrrr!
