Just saw the movie 12 Years a Slave. Powerful depiction of American Slavery days and a vivid tale of ones experience being a kidnapped Free Man in 1841 and sold into slavery. This has a powerful moving message. Just take Roots, all the Blacksploitation Slavery flicks, stories of atrocities in the enslaved South and put them all in steroids. The insides of you will feel anger, hate, resentment, pity, sad, terrified, robbed, emphatic, ashamed, puzzled, amazed, dumbfounded and entertained while enjoying the cinematography/drama/acting/story and the buttered popcorn - makes for a good overall movie experience. Still scratching my head how humanity allowed this to go on for a long time. A really effective extension of Colonialism and an inherited oppressive form of Government and culture. Furthermore, the third world in the past and even today has its share of slavery/semi-slavery/colonialism/cruelty/opressive scenarios that continue to linger & continually serves as a reminder to bad/evil behavior like a bad hemorrhoids with no room for surgery or a pharmaceutical fix! : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12_Years_a_Slave_(film)
