Just something to share that I realize after my Uncle LC Mays - TopicsExpress

Just something to share that I realize after my Uncle LC Mays homegoing service yesterday: He passed away on his Mothers (my Grandmothers birthday.) He ran for public office and came in 3rd place for the position of Madison County Coroner in 1976. His grandfather (my great-grandfather) along with my own grandfather were business owners. Community leaders. They were not borrowers. They were lenders to those who could not take care of themselves. Yall. my great grandfather was A PLANTATION OWNER! He HIRED people. It was an all black thriving community of business owners in agricultural science. My uncle also worked full time at GM while going to school to study mortuary science and graduated in 1978.Theres so much more, but I realize that after hearing his history, and hearing stories of where he and my mother and her two brothers came from, and how they were raised, And I guess I just wanted to share with the people who grew up in a town that feels sometimes that all hope is lost...is to look for greatness within yourselves. Do something while youre still upright & breathing. Dont just take without promising to give back. And learn that there are always two sides to every story. Im proud to be a child who was born and raised in Anderson iNDIANA. Have a blessed day. Cynthya (aka Cindy Lewis. AHS 1972)
