Just super! California is the worst state for 9th consecutive year. Excerpted from March 26 OC Register Editorial: Chief Executive magazine’s 2013 “Best States/Worst States for Business” survey, which polled more than 700 CEOs nationwide, ranked California the worst state for business for the ninth year in a row, and the state’s tax and regulatory score was the worst by far. The 2012 survey provided some sobering comments from the CEOs on California’s business climate. “[California] state politicians feel business and commerce are ‘necessary evils’ that provide the funds to enable pursuit of their misguided agendas,” one CEO stated. “California is begging for businesses to leave its state,” asserted another. This is not mere ideological gesticulating or speculative theorizing that high taxes and burdensome regulations depress economic opportunity and growth.
