Just tended to my boys tank. Added some aquarium salt to see if it might help him. Poor Whitey has fought very hard to keep going. Ive researched all I can to help him live a very good life. He keeps getting internal infections that show up as red spots on his skin. Hes been fed food with medicine in it but it just dont want to let go of him completely. And, he still floats upside down on occasion. After a long talk with the good folks at Kees aquarium, the aquarium salt should help him fight bacteria, and help him move air through his gills as hes been wanting to suck air at the top of the tank in spite of the huge air stone I have in there. The fish experts said hes at an age where his immune system aint what it used to be, and hes most likely nearing the end of his life cycle. But for a fish in captivity to live this long is pretty awesome. One thing we can all agree on, hes a beautiful boy. So calming to watch. I adore this boy. And I hope hes happy and feels ok. He seems happy. :)
