Just the way it should be... After Moey came out of surgery I went for a walk downstairs. As I reached the exit I saw a familiar face Hey! Hows Moey? I put my arms around her and cuddle her... Hes good! He just got out and was hungry so we just grabbed him some food...you hungry? She shakes her head Nah thanks I just ate. We walk into his room together and she gives him a whopping kiss How you feeling? She sits on the edge of his bed and I sit on the seat behind him. I watch her tie her hair up and start massaging his knee. Does that help? He nods...and she sits there for another hour massaging his knee. I watch him tell her all his stories and she listens with true concern. He tells her all the things he does and doesnt share with me...the things he feels he can. Secretly I thank God that Blanca is in his life...she fills a space of trust in him that I know is well placed and valued. A friend walks through the curtains and starts talking Yeah its because his mums dont take care of him! Someone else asks Who are his mums? Blanca and I look at each other and burst out laughing. His mums! I laugh and raise my hand to ask her for a high 5! She slams her palm into mine and we laugh a little more... His mothers. Blanca is Moeys dads wife, his step-mum and the mother of his cherished brothers Zak and Zane. Shes also a dear friend to him...and to me. And I value her role in Moeys life as I do every other member of his family. And Moey sees her as the other mum who listens when this one has stopped! The second pic is of Moeys dad with Moeys sister, Zenes. Hes not her dad, they have different dads, yet when she sees him she squeals in delight and jumps into his lap and does his head in with her stories... And when my ex father-in-law came to see Moey the other day he frustratingly asked me Why didnt you bring Zeinab? We miss her and when she calls me jeddoh (grandpa)! And as Blanca just noted when Zak and Zane claim Hass and Zenes as their siblings lol! I divorced Moeys dad when he was barely 7 months old and for 19 years this is how weve lived and when Blanca came onto the scene she just brought an extra layer of love and 2 extra souls to cherish... Imagine this scene if we were all holding onto old hurts and refusing to be in each others company? We had a choice...hold a grudge and keep it brewing and tear Moey down the middle. Or extend our hands and forget the past to the benefit of everyone who got caught in this beautiful weave of a not so normal family...
