Just thinking how different it is. You send your kid off to their first day of school, you mostly feel fear. Afraid for their safety, that the other kids will be mean to them, that they wont feel accepted, etc. Send them to the first day of college, and those feelings return, but are greatly overshadowed by a feeling of pride. For some like myself, also envy. I have spent my.... Well, HIS life, watching him learn to do things I could do... walk, talk, ride a bike, drive, graduate, fall in love with a wonderful person.... But today is something different. Today is something new, that I cant describe. Today, he is doing something I never did. Something I wish I had the opportunity to do, wish I had been brave enough to take a chance on. Jake, I love you (your brother, and Mom) more than life itself. I am so proud of you. I KNOW in my heart that you are doing the right thing, and that you CAN do this! You just remember all of the speeches I have given you about dedication, motivation, and hard work. enjoy this experience. Embrace the opportunity. Take advantage of it. Ones like this only come around once in a life time. When it comes to family and true friends, out of sight is NOT out of mind! We will be thinking of you constantly.... Just think of us as you own collection of stalkers! Love you bud.
