Just thought some of you may appreciate some details about the Anasazi Indians usually not found in books or given by tour guides. Chimney Rock, which is very near Pagosa Springs, CO, where I live, was the spiritual center for the tribe/nation. This was where they would make their pilgrimage to from the other pueblos/villages, such as from the ruins at Chaco Canyon, Mesa Verde, Aztec and the likes. In fact, they believed that if they did not make this trek during their lifetime, they would not get to the after life they prayed for. This was quite difficult as the exact moon phase they needed for ideal conditions at this sight only occur every 11.2 years, and their average life span was only 36 years. Meaning they may only get 2 or 3 chances to even make the trip. And most walked the journey which could be over 100 miles. The other interesting thing I have heard... All the skulls found of Anasazi have holes in them, either front or back, and all bones found have been burnt...leading many to believe they resorted to sacrifice and cannabolism. This is quite plausible as most of their game animals left the area during the major droughts near the end times of their existence.
