Just to clarify for a few comments Ive seen posted lately :) This page was created to give prospective buyers/clients information openly and as factually as possible based on the research done by a large group of concerned people. We felt that people were being intentionally mislead, and/or outright lied too in order to defraud the public and prompt kind-hearted dog lovers into giving financial aide to someone who is, in all honesty, nothing more than a back yard breeder. His legal issues and his training/breeding practices aside, he is actively and intentionally lying to the public through various donation accounts and that is the reason this page was created. He claims to rescue dogs, which strikes a very personal cord with many of us, but what he is really doing is purchasing them for profit. Those not retained for his breeding program are quickly offered for sale, claiming he spent hundreds to rescue them and is just trying to get a portion of his money back. I personally have 15 rescued animals and other than their vet bills, most cost me nothing to acquire them.....there are hundreds offered for free on the internet every day. He claims to breed world class shepherds, health certified and tested, and yet none are listed in the OFA database and only a very few are even listed in the AKC database. There are reports of emaciated dogs and puppies sold with severe genetic disorders......first he denied any existence, then later recanted saying he did produce a genetic defect, claiming he was no longer breeding those dogs, and then a few months later posted a breeding schedule showing the same dogs paired up again. These are the kinds of things the public should be aware of BEFORE spending upwards of $2000.00 on a puppy. We fully support reputable breeders and rescuers alike, but people should be able to make an informed decision based on ALL the information.....without the duplicity of only allowing select information to make himself look good. If people read this page and choose to support him, we wish them well and will not try to dissuade them. But for those looking to buy a dog from a truly reputable breeder...we have a great resource posted on this page for how to identify one, what questions should be asked, and the most common red flags to watch for. We encourage you to ask those same questions of Griffin Shepherd Kennels before purchasing one of his dogs. We are also not opposed to any raw feeding programs as weve found that most legitimate programs greatly benefit dogs, if done correctly....the questions arise when whole carcasses are fed to multiple dogs of varying ages and sizes together, without first ensuring the meat is free of bacteria and/or parasites. Especially unvaccinated young dogs in a pack environment which are already prone to spreading disease and infestations. The video of the 5 week old puppies eating a goat carcass, for example, without any preparation to prevent the spread of bacteria and/or parasites raises red flags even for those dedicated to raw feeding programs. Mass. state law does not require vaccinations other than rabies but there are also serious diseases such as Parvo and Distemper that needed to be vaccinated for as well, not only to the protect the pups but also to protect any dogs living in a potential new home. These protective measures are even more critical with pups/dogs living in a large pack environment. Griffin Shepherd Kennels openly admits to not vaccinating against these deadly diseases, even to the media. There is a growing movement to prevent over-vaccinating but most people agree with an initial first round of shots and booster against these diseases. We encourage everyone to do their own research, and make informed choices. We encourage people to go to Griffin Shepherd Kennels and ask their own questions, ask for proof of vaccines, ask to see copies of health certifications, ask to see licenses and the OFA ratings he claims he has before you spend one dime. Not to discredit him, but to ensure the health and happiness of our four-legged friends before you spend your hard-earned money. Thank you.
