Just to get a better idea of the current electoral politics, I watched Modis speech at Jhansi. A few things that struck me: 1. Modi has been successful in removing the communalism from the agenda, which Congress was hoping would become the prime issue 2. I am surprised at the number of serious allegations that Modi makes in the speech. If the ruling parties do not respond to each of them categorically and with documented proof at the highest level, it would mean that they agree with the allegations. Indeed, if they are not outraged to an explosive degree, it would mean that in their hearts they do accept their own wrongdoings. Each time the topmost leader of a party makes an allegation, it is incumbent upon the top leaders of the opposition parties to respond to them. 3. Modi is adept at using statistics when needed, and pride/nationalism/sentimentalism when those would work better.
