(2) Decades past the Air Force begrudgingly fielded the A-10 after much embarrassment in Vietnam over how inept they were supporting Army with CAS. (3) The Air Force has fought the mission and attempted to get rid of the A-10 ever since it was fielded. (4) The A-10 is probably the most effective CAS aircraft that ever hit the air by any military at any time. (5) The F-35 will not come close to the A-10 for the Army mission. (6) Yet the Air Force will insist on its control of the air over all other services and restrictions on what they can do ... pure political play. (7) The grunt in the mud will suffer.
