Just two weeks ago, I visited Miami to represent the Turks & Caicos Islands at the Pine Rocklands Working Group Symposium 2014. As always I was impressed at the level of work that governments, NGOs, educational institutions, and passionate individuals are doing to preserve, restore, and protect this globally imperiled ecosystem and its unique plants and animals. The pine rocklands around ZooMiami are especially rich in wildlife. The last thing south Florida needs is more big box stores and fast food joints. Im thrilled that this initiative is making national news in USA. Please help keep that momentum going. The more awareness our region has for this habitat, the more we can protect it here in TCI.
