Just wanted to officially show these photos to the group. One is the gate (which will be covered in signage - info, rules, waiver, etc). The other is our test run of target stands (installed at 50 yards). The installation of the target stands was very smooth and went exactly as expected. Now to let them get shot all weekend and see how it works out. I had the same targets designed for the short ranges but I became concerned about ricochets at 5-15 yards... you know, shooting at solid 3/8 steel at 5 yards sent up a few red flags. If I can get them constructed in a certain way as to deflect bullets then I would not worry. Right now as constructed the angle and rod meet parallel and create a semi-flat surface that I am afraid can kick out ricochets. If anyone goes to MSA on a regular basis, I could use some info on their western most pistol target stands. Used to be on the very west end of the property past the rifle ranges. I seem to remember metal stands but they might have been a minimum of 10 yards. I would like to see their construction methods on these close range metal target stands. I already have my ideas, but just wanted to see what they do. I have learned from experience that 50% of our members only want to shoot at 5-15 yards and there is nothing wrong with that. I just have to make sure if they hit the metal frame that it doesnt come bite them in the ass. I absolutely loathe wooden target stands due to the labor required to replace them and their relatively short lifespans, but wood may be the only acceptable material for such short ranges.
