Just wanted to repost a link to my other website the queer parenting PinkPlayMags blog The Ginger Menace (pinkplaymags). Come see us sing! It is six days and counting to the Singing Out! holiday concert Closer to the Flame and I have been closely considering my relationship to grief, healing, music and my son. In a sense working with loss is a lot like working near an open flame, it hurts but its where you have to stay in order to heal. One of the places I have been doing a lot of healing and working through loss is choir. It is a joyfully expressive place for me but this year I had a particular challenge in the form of Lullaby by Billy Joel. As I have begun having small conversations with my three-year-old son about death and his Mama it was pretty poignant. pinkplaymags/2014/12/singing-out-for-my-son/
